ASUS Qube with Google TV Media Streamer Introduced

ASUS is announcing the Qube with Google TV media streamer, bringing online entertainment content to HDTVs.

A compact Android-based entertainment device, it instantly upgrades HDTVs with a wealth of online content. Based on the latest Google TV platform, Qube with Google TV is the first Google TV media streamer with motion control and voice search (via the bundled remote). Featuring an exclusive proprietary user interface with the ability to group downloaded apps for easier management and navigation, Google Play gives instant access to a wide selection of entertainment content, including movies, TV shows, apps and games, while Qube with Google TV also features picture-in-picture TV viewing and the sophisticated Chrome web browser. The Qube's advanced but intuitive remote also offers a large clickpad and has a mini keyboard on the flip side for managing and using the internet effectively.

The remote's matte finish and large clickpad seem to have the right design aspects incorporated. Additionally, it supports motion-based control and has voice search functions integrated.

On the flip side of the remote, we noted a compact keyboard to assist in webpage navigation, saving/renaming bookmarks, jumping across an alphabetized list and many other functions where a full keyboard comes in handy.

Motion sensing can be used with games and Qube with Google TV can also be controlled using the Mobile Remote app for Android smartphones and tablets (available from the Google Play Store). Qube with Google TV also includes 50GB of ASUS WebStorage.

  • Marvell Berlin G2 chipset
  • Android Honeycomb 3.2 platform
  • 4GB flash storage with 1GB DDR3 RAM
  • 124 x 124 x 124mm
  • 520g

The ASUS Qube with Google TV will be available in the U.S. from late Q1 2013 with additional local service offerings like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, HBO GO and much more.
