ASUS ME172V Jelly Bean Tablet Shows Up on Benchmark Results

The race to the bottom for tablets can get more intense in the coming months as evidence mounts of an entry-level ASUS tablet in the works.
According to Pocketnow, a recently-discovered GLBenchmark entry reveals an ASUS tablet, ME172V to be running on a 1GHz processor with Mali-400 GPU. The same GPU is found in most Samsung mobile devices powered by Exynos 4 processors. Other specs include Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and a display resolution of 1024 x 552 pixels.
DigiTimes reported in September that Google and ASUS are planning to introduce a US$99 Nexus 7 by the end of 2012. A month later, DigiTimes obtained information from Taiwan-based supply chain makers that the alleged tablet will be equipped with an 800MHz single-core processor.
If Google can drop the price of its 16GB Nexus 7 from US$249 to US$199 after four months, it is also not far fetched to say that Google and/or ASUS are actually planning to introduce such an US$99 tablet to capture more market share from the Apple iPads.
