ASUS Chairman: Flagship Smartphone To Launch in Second Half of 2014

The successor of the ASUS PadFone Infinity is expected to be launched in the second half of 2014.

If you are secretly hoping that ASUS will release an Android flagship smartphone within these two months to compete with the HTC One (M8), Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2, we are sorry to crush your hopes.

Jonney Shih, Chairman of ASUS, revealed during an interview with HardwareZone that the company is planning to unveil its next flagship smartphone - possibly the successor to the PadFone Infinity - in the second half of 2014. He declined to reveal further details and told us to "wait and see".

ASUS announced the PadFone Infinity at Mobile World Congress 2013 in February and released an improved version six months later. Since then, ASUS has not launched a flagship smartphone yet; it unveiled the new ZenFone series at Consumer Electronics Show 2014 and announced its availability in South East Asia earlier this morning.

The PadFone Infinity continues to be one of the most well-designed Android smartphones we've seen and it would be interesting to see how ASUS plans to outdo itself this year.
