ASRock has announced its Z87 Extreme11/ac motherboard that features a whopping 22 SATA 6Gbps connectors. Six SATA connectors are provided by the Intel Z87 PCH. The additional 16 SAS-3/SATA 6Gbps ones are courtesy of the onboard LSI SAS 3008 controller, in combination with a 3X24R expander.
On top of that, the board has a PLX PEX 8747 PCIe bridge chip that allows for up to 4-way graphics card configurations, with a x8/x8/x8/x8 PCIe lane configuration. Another feature that is befitting of this super high-end board is Thunderbolt 2 support. There is a pair of Thunderbolt connectors with channel aggregation, and according to ASRock, with its single, logical 20Gbps channel, the board is able to support Ultra HD or 4K displays. The new Thunderbolt ports are compatible with older Thunderbolt devices and peripherals.
For high-end audio experience, Purity Sound technology is supported. The board sports a 12-phase power design, with high-end components like premium gold capacitors, multi-filter caps (MFCs) and dual-stacked MOSFETs for stable power delivery. Overclockers will be glad to know the board has active cooling for its PWM and PCH heatsinks. For more information on the board's specifications, please visit this link.
