Apple is the world's most valuable brand for the fourth consecutive year
Brand consultancy firm Interbrand just released its annual list of Best Global Brands and Apple ranks at the top ahead of its rivals, Google, Microsoft and Samsung.
Apple, with an estimated brand value of US$178 billion, snatched the crown from Coca-Cola in 2013 and has remained at the top ever since. Coca-Cola is ranked 3rd this year with a brand value of US$73 billion. Here's the list of the top 10 most valuable brands for 2016:
- Apple
- Coca-Cola
- Microsoft
- Toyota
- IBM
- Samsung
- Amazon
- Mercedes-Benz
- GE
Interbrand states that Apple's ecosystem is the key contributor to the value of the brand and praises the company as the "Alpha of Cohesiveness in full effect".
Interbrand - Apple shows how ecosystems drive value. Analysts have often pointed out that “Apple has superior products.” While true, this opinion undersells the brilliance of Apple’s functionally- integrated model. Its software, hardware, and touchpoints are connected not just by beautiful design aesthetics, but by a level of interoperability that justifies the Apple premium and discourages defections to another platform.
And the more data you share, the more personal it becomes— adding new devices is painless and the thought of switching increasingly unpromising. Apple is the Alpha of Cohesiveness in full effect.
With Google striving for a similar strategy through the launch of its Pixel smartphones, Daydream View and AI-powered Smart Home device, it would be interesting to see if it is able to overtake Apple in the next few years.
