Apple updates Macbook Pro with Retina Display line with lower prices

Apple’s latest configuration updates for their Retina Macbook Pros bring double the memory in both entry-level configurations, and a new lower price for the top-of-the-line 15-inch Macbook Pro at SGD $3,288 (inc. GST).

"The MacBook Pro with Retina display gets even better with faster processors, more memory, more affordable configurations and a free upgrade to OS X Yosemite later this year." said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

The 13-inch Retina options all come with 8GB of memory to start, and feature dual-core Intel Core i5 processors up to 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz. They can go up to faster dual-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 3.0 GHz, and flash storage can go up to 1TB.

The 15-inch models feature faster quad-core processors starting from 2.2GHz and come with 16GB of memory to start. These can go up to 2.8GHz quad core processors with Turbo Boost speeds of up to 4.0GHz, and up to 1TB of flash storage.

iLife and iWork come free with every new Mac, which gives you access to iWork for iCloud, allowing you to collaborate remotely with your friends. While these Macbook Pros will come installed with OS X Mavericks to start, rest assured that you can upgrade to OS X Yosemite for free when it is released later this year, as it will be made available on the App Store as a free download.
