Apple will be announcing iPad updates during an invitation-only event on 22nd October, All Things D stated yesterday. The technology news website cited "people familiar with Apple's plans" as the origin of this report. The venue has not been revealed, although we know that Microsoft will be also launching its Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets on 22nd October. Furthermore, Nokia's Innovation Reinvented showcase is slated on that very same day.
Apple will update its iPad mini with an improved, higher-resolution Retina display, according to rumors. Also, Apple will supposedly flaunt the iPad's first complete redesign in two years, by narrowing the tablet's bezels, so it becomes more identical to the iPad mini aesthetics wise. All Things D disclosed that both tablets will employ the company's new 64-bit A7 chip (the same processing core used for the Apple iPhone 5S).
