Android Ice Cream Sandwich Likely to Use TI Processor

An image used by Texas Instruments (TI) during a slideshow presentation revealed information that Google may have chosen its OMAP4 processor to power the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) phones including the next Nexus phone.

According to SlashGear, the image shown during the presentation is going to be used by TI for events "in the fall". This coincides with the expected release of ICS and the unveiling of the next Nexus phone. As there is still no official word from Google on the processor used in its next Nexus phone, the image can simply mean a declaration of TI's support and love for ICS.

TI processors are currently being used in a number of devices such as the BlackBerry PlayBook and the Motorola Milestone 2. If we look at the Google Nexus One and Google Nexus S, they are powered by Qualcomm Scorpion and Hummingbird processors respectively. It is possible that TI will get the honor of equipping the next Nexus phone.
