Android 6.0 update available for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

The long-awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is finally here for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, four months after Google first made it generally available.

Starting from 15th February, Samsung will be rolling out the software update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge although timing varies across markets and telcos. As for other Galaxy devices, Samsung declined to provide specific information such as availability and eligible models, though it's safe to assume that other 2015 flagships like the S6 Edge+ and Note 5 will follow suit soon after.

After the update, Galaxy S6 Edge users will also get new features for the curved display. For example, Samsung has widened the edge panel from 260 pixels to 550 pixels to allow more content to be displayed. Users can also customize up to nine panels and contact names are now displayed below their photographs. The Apps Edge feature will also support up to 10 apps.

Samsung is widely expected to officially announce its new flagship phone, the Galaxy S7, on February 21.
