Amazon Cloud Drive Now Offers Unlimited Storage for Music

Amazon has announced that for the price of US$20 a year, customers can store unlimited amount of MP3 and AAC music files to its cloud server, Cloud Drive. For other files, the limit is still 20GB. The offer is available for a limited time. Amazon customers who do not subscribe to the Cloud Drive service will still get 5GB of free Cloud Drive storage automatically.

In addition, all Amazon MP3 purchases can be stored in Cloud Drive for free, even for those that are purchased before the launch of the service and Cloud Player. Again, there's no storage limit.

Finally, Amazon has released an iPad version of its cloud music player, Cloud Player for Web. So users can now stream music stored on the Cloud Drive to the Apple tablet. This is not a native app; to access it, simply open mobile Safari and visit www.amazon.com/cloudplayer. The player is already working on Android, Mac and PC. Cloud Drive, Cloud Player for Web and Cloud Player for Android were launched earlier this year in March.

Comparatively, Apple's iCloud with iTunes Match service costs US$25 per year and has a limit of 20,000 songs.
