Amazon announced that its Android-based app store is now available in 41 additional countries, which brings its global presence to 236 countries and territories. Among the 41 countries are Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

One of the key features of the Amazon Appstore is its Free App of the Day, where an app from any category is offered free. We were told by Amazon that it is giving away 30 paid apps worth over US$100 for free today. The app bundle includes apps from various categories such as Health & Fitness, Music and Entertainment and Games. Below is the list of apps and their prices in USD:

Due to local restrictions in different countries, not all published apps within the Amazon Appstore will be available in your country. The original list of free apps include Jet Set Radio (US$4.99) and Alarm Clock Xtreme (US$1.99), but they are not available for download in Singapore. They are replaced by Language Coach and Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing.

If you are using an Android device running version 2.2 or higher, you can download the Amazon Appstore from this link. Before you do so, head over to Settings > Security > Device Administration and check the Unknown sources box. This will allow your Android device to download and install the application package file (APK).
