AirPods delay could be due to handling of dual Bluetooth connectivity

Apple did not share much information on why it delayed the availability of its AirPods, but the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) thinks it knows the reason.

An anonymous source told the WSJ that the delay could be due to how the AirPods require two active wireless connections to receive audio at the same time to avoid distortion. This is unlike current wireless earphones where one earpiece receives a signal from the device and transmits the signal to the other earpiece. Having said that, Apple also needs to figure out how one AirPod earpiece can continue to function even if the other earpiece is lost or runs out of battery juice.

While there are three weeks left before the end of the year, AppleInsider believed the AirPods will still make it in time
