AfterShokz is announcing that its first open ear wireless Bluetooth headphones, the Bluez, will be available and shipping next month. Customers in the U.S. and Canada can pre-order Bluez via the company's website, with fulfillment expected by the end of January 2013.
With the creative use of bone conduction technology which transfers stereophonic sounds without covering or plugging the ears, the unique open ear design offers more than just increased comfort; it allows users to hear ambient noise, heightening awareness especially while outdoors. Additionally, blind and hearing-impaired persons have reported that pairing AfterShokz headphones with assistive devices such as screen readers, global guidance technologies, cell phones and audio players, provides them the opportunity to remain acutely in touch with surroundings.
Bluez is constructed with an ergonomic, stable, one-piece wraparound headband, which wraps over the ears and features an adjustable and removable inner tension band to comfortably accommodate a wide range of head sizes. A make/take call button on the right transducer and a pause/advance button on the left transducer gives users total control over their music, podcasts and phone calls right from the unit.
AfterShokz will be debuting Bluez at the CES 2013 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall 2, Booth #26522, happening from 8th to 11th January 2013. Bluez is priced at US$119.95, and is only currently available to U.S. and Canada for pre-order at this time. Additional availability via select retailer partners will be announced soon.
