Acer has just announced entry-level Windows 10 laptops. Branded as Acer Aspire One “Cloudbooks”, they come in four different configurations; two 11-inch models, and another two 14-inch models. True to their marketing moniker, these new laptops come with up to 1TB of OneDrive storage and a 1-year Office 365 Personal subscription. At the same time, owners also get to enjoy Acer’s very own cloud-based abApps software suite.

According to WCCF Tech, the Cloudbooks are powered by an Intel “Braswell” 1.6GHz dual-core Celeron N3050 CPU. With 2GB of DDR3L memory modules, and a 1366 x 768 pixels resolution, 16:9 LED-backlit display, they are comparable to the HP Stream 11, which is powered by the previous gen “Bay Trail” Intel Celeron N2840 CPU. For wireless connectivity, they support 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 standards. The 11-inch Cloudbooks feature 16- or 32GB eMMC onboard storage; the 14-inch models are available in 32- or 64GB eMMC storage capacities. In terms of battery life, the 11-inch models are touted to last as long as seven hours, and the 14-inch ones are rated up to six hours.

In terms of weight, the 11-inch Cloudbook tips the scale at 1.15kg, and the 14-inch model weighs in at 1.6kg. Despite their portability, they aren’t light on features as the Cloudbooks feature “full-sized HDMI, USB3.0, USB2.0, and SD Card ports to eliminate the need for additional adapters, while a full-sized chiclet keyboard and large touchpad supporting Windows 10 gestures, provides a comfortable typing and navigation experience.” The Cloudbooks feature a "dual digital microphone" with enhanced DSP to ensure a smooth user experience with Cortana. According to Acer, the Aspire One Cloudbook 11 has a launch price starting at US$169, and will be available in North America this month. Cloudbook 14 will begin retailing in the same region the following month of September, and its price start at US$199. As usual, there isn’t any word on its local pricing and availability.
