Whether it's a gift idea for someone or to pamper yourself, or just getting ready to splurge your bonus on a new tech toy, we've got some nice recommendations and you might even stand a chance to win some of them!

Whether it's to save favourite movies, tv shows, music or images, storage is something one can never get enough of. It's no longer enough just to have extra HDDs lying around to archive your stuff to. It works, but it is really impractical, especially if you're planning to regularly use the data on multiple devices regularly. That's why, like it or not, a NAS is something you will want to have in your home.

With storage needs constantly increasing, today's recommendation is the Synology Diskstation DS216play NAS!

For those unfamiliar with the term, here's a crash course. NAS (or Network-attached Storage) is a separate storage device that connects to your home router, and is accessible by any device you allow it to connect to. It's basically storage that can be accessed by multiple authorized users at any time. Here's an easy to explain video that'll help clear out the questions you might have.

The Synology DiskStation DS216play NAS is a two-bay unit, with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB RAM. It also has a USB 3.0 port, in case you want to connect a device directly to it.

Targeted at home users, the NAS also features a hardware accelerated transcoding engine  which supports H.264/H.265 1080p and H.265 4K codecs as well as allowing you to transcode your 4K videos into 1080p or stream 4K videos to supported devices. On top of that, the NAS can also act as a DLNA certified server, so that it can stream to other DLNA certified devices, like a PS4 or Xbox One.

The NAS also makes use of Synology's DiskStation Manager, a simple, easy to use browser-based OS that allows you to access and configure your NAS via intuitive and easy to understand menus, great if you're new to using a NAS. If you're intending to use the Synology DiskStation DS216play as a media player, you can even download the various apps Synology has created for mobile devices, which work in conjunction with the NAS. With the apps, you can easily content on the NAS via your smart device, as well as configure various settings and even using the connected smart device as a remote for media playback.

The Synology DiskStation DS216play NAS is already on sale for $369, without any drives included.

Riddle Me This: What is the Next Gift Suggestion? (Contest Hint)

Our next festive gift suggestion is a slick, black ATX mid tower that's spacious enough to accommodate water cooling gear and bigger graphics cards. Just launched locally this month, it's quite affordable for its build, class and good looks. It's also oddly associated with "sharks", though it doesn't but and it's not sharp . What could it be?
