6 third-party apps that are optimized for 3D Touch on Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

After reviewing the Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, we felt that 3D Touch is the single biggest improvement to the touchscreen since its creation. Depending on how much pressure you apply on the screen, it will bring up different menus such as Quick Actions (shortcuts), previews of content and links (Peek) and jumping straight into content (Pop).

While Apple's native apps work with 3D Touch out of the box, some popular third-party apps have been updated to support the feature. Here's a list of six third-party apps you can download on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus:

 Instagram

Instead of accessing the Instagram app to accomplish tasks such as posting a new photo, a hard press gives you the option to submit a new post, view activity, search and send a photo message. When you are browsing through photos on an Instagram account, you can apply a slight pressure to get a preview of the photo. Want to see the actual size of the photo? Simply apply more pressure.

 WeChat

If you are a regular user of WeChat, you can use 3D Touch to start a new chat, record a short video and access your QR code. You also can get a Peek of individual messages in your inbox.

Dropbox

You can access Quick Actions such as the most recent file added to Dropbox, view offline files, upload photo, and search files in your account. You also can have a Peek of individual files inside the Dropbox app.

Evernote

Evernote app supports Quick Actions on the home screen where you can hard press to create a new note, take photo or set a reminder. Within the Evernote app, you can take a Peek into website links or notes from your Evernote home screen.

Twitter

Twitter

Hard-press on the Twitter icon and you will get the option to search through your Twitter feed, post a new Tweet or send a direct message on Twitter.

Shazam

If opening and waiting for the Shazam app to load is too long, hard press on the app icon on the home screen and you get the option to "Shazam Now". You also can activate Visual Shazam to activate the QR reader when you see the Shazam camera logo on posters, magazines or books.

3D Touch is only exclusively available on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus while earlier iterations of the technology can be found in the Apple Watch and MacBook lineup. It apparently took "multi, multi, multi years" for Apple to develop this technology
