Google has announced plans to build and operate FASTER, a high-speed internet Trans-Pacific cable system that will connect the US with Chikura and Shima in Japan. SingTel will also be involved in this project.

ViewQwest has announced that it has established a point of presence in New York to enable faster connectivity between Singapore and the U.S. East Coast.
