Google is locking down Chrome for Windows users by blocking the downloading and installation of any Chrome extensions not found in the company's own Chrome Web Store. Google says that malicious extensions that take advantage of the option to side-load additional extensions upon install are the "leading cause of complaints from our Windows users."

According to Billboard, Youtube is readying a music streaming service that will be launched very soon. The service will stream both audio and video content on two service tiers. One is free to use while the other operates on paid subscriptions, similar to Spotify and Google Play All Access.

Popular BitTorrent search website Isohunt has agreed today to shutdown all of its operations worldwide after losing its legal battle against the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America). The company, founded by Canadian Gary Fung, has also agreed to pay the movie studios that sued it US$110 million.
Twitter will file its initial public offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) instead of the tech-heavy Nasdaq. Its amended S-1 form, a requisite for IPO proceedings in the United States, revealed the company's intentions.
