Google has quietly added a bunch of ASCII emoticon shortcuts to the latest Hangouts update (v13) for Android and Chrome browser. The emoticons range from /facepalm (－‸ლ) to everyone's favorite /tableflip (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻. View the full list inside.
Expectedly, the new Snapchat gadget works with the app itself, taking 10-second long videos before sending to your smartphone wirelessly.

Grab has partnered with self-driving startup nuTonomy to enable select customers to hail their own autonomous ride. The trial will run in one-north and adjacent neighborhoods, and is slated for an initial period of two months.

The latest version of Opera's desktop browser, Opera 40, now comes with a free built-in VPN. Opera started testing the feature in a developer version of the browser earlier this year, but it wasn't until now that it rolled it out officially.

Starting from today, macOS Sierra will be available as a free update from the Mac App Store. The biggest feature is probably Siri integration, but you'll get other additions like the Universal Clipboard, Apple Pay for the web, and an improved Photos app.
