Kingston's HyperX division has launched the HyperX Savage, a new high-performance SATA-based SSD. The 2.5-inch drive is only 7mm in height, which means it will fit into most notebooks, desktops and small form factor PCs.

Samsung has expanded its SSD line-up with the 850 EVO M.2 and 850 EVO mSATA SSDs. The new drives are targeted at ultra-slim laptops and PCs and will feature the same 32-layer 3D TLC V-NAND as the original 2.5-inch 850 EVO SSDs. Despite the new interfaces, they are still SATA-based drives and will deliver similar performance to the Samsung 850 EVO.
