Work that Shot - The New Cyber-shot T-Series

Sony has just unveiled not one, nor two, but three new Cyber-shot cameras under the T-series lineup. Cutting to the chase, we present the following Sony Cyber-shot cameras - the T500, T77 and T700. Both the T77 and T700 are the direct successor to the previous T70 and T300, with the T500 introduced as a brand new segment. For the uninitiated, these T-series devices got its naming convention due to their touch-screen capability, and true to its nature, these three new devices will feature touch screen capability, with both the T500 and T700 sporting a 3.5-inch LCD screen whilst the T77 is a space saver with its 3.0-inch LCD screen. Due to its touch-screen nature, you'll find minimal buttons featured along the chassis of all three devices, with most of the navigation done on the expansive LCD screen.

Showcasing the 3.5" LCD touch screen, the Cyber-shot T700 also features a few additions to its T300 predecessor, such as improved Face Detection and Smile Shutter technology, plus a new Intelligent Scene Recognition feature.

The Sony Cyber-shot T77 is currently the slimmest Cyber-shot camera at a mere 13.9mm thickness, and is packed with loads of features such as Optical SteadyShot, Smile Shutter technology and Face Detection.

And lastly, the final of the new T-series Cyber-shot cameras, the Sony Cyber-shot T500, which allows you to capture high definition movies, and even lets you take up to three still images at 1280 x 720 in the midst of the video shooting.

Onward with the specifications, both the T77 and T700 comes with a 10.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD sensor, paired with a newly developed Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x optical zoom lens, utilizing a BIONZ image processing engine. Though the T77 will be the slimmest Cyber-shot camera to date with its 13.9mm profile, it's also packed with numerous features such as Smile Shutter Technology and Face Detection, and the addition of a new Intelligent Scene Recognition automatically switches you to the optimum scene with no additional input by the user's end. And to satisfy the foodie in you, a new "Gourmet" scene mode is added for bloggers who just can't resist taking their latest gourmet discoveries and want optimum images for their blog posts. The T700 will also be equipped with the above-mentioned features too, and in addition, comes with a massive 4GB internal memory.

The brand new T500 has its focus aimed at high definition movie capturing, featuring a new HD snap movie function to allow easy recording and playback of HD movies. With a wide 3.5" Clear Photo LCD Plus touch screen, the T500 comes with a new HD Slideshow feature that works in tandem with Sony's PHOTOMUSIC function. Similar to the T77 and T700, the T500 is also a 10.1-megapixel camera but utilizes a 1/2.3-type Super HAD CCD sensor and comes with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens that includes up to 5x optical zoom.
