Curiosity got the better of us and we decided to embark on a mission to map out SingTel's 4G LTE deployment based on SMRT's train network. After all, we believe the majority of users will be surfing on their mobile devices while waiting for the trains to arrive. This article will be a guide for 4G subscribers (with 4G-enabled phones) as to where they can switch to the LTE network to enjoy a faster and better web browsing experience.

Before we proceed with the rest of the article, please take note of the following:

  • For the purpose of this article, we used the HTC One XL. As the hardware specs differ across the three LTE Android smartphones, signal strength, reception and performance may differ.

  • SingTel is currently carrying out its deployment of its LTE network. As such, your experience may differ from ours.

  • SingTel's 4G network coverage currently does not extend to underpasses, tunnels and underground MRT stations. Therefore, we only covered stations that are above ground.

  • We revisited Simei to check if
    there was 4G reception. The
HTC One XL did not have any
4G reception, while the LG Optimus
    True HD LTE had.
