Introduction

Our recent blitz of ATI Radeon X1800 XT cards enters the final stretch with not one, but two contenders from Sapphire Technologies, the normal Sapphire Radeon X1800 XT 512MB and the Platinum Edition. One of ATI's closest and biggest partners, Sapphire probably has the pick of the crop from ATI's graphics processors, as it is one of the few companies to stay staunchly on the red team. This loyalty is probably why Sapphire is one of the few to have an overclocked version of the Radeon X1800 XT 512MB to market. The Sapphire Radeon X1800 XT 512MB Platinum Edition is the premium card in the series, boasting a core clock speed of up to 700MHz, more than the standard frequency of 625MHz found on the normal edition. Besides the clock speeds, both Sapphire cards have virtually identical software and accessories bundles. Here are their technical specifications for you to obsess over:

The packaging for the two Sapphire Radeon X1800 XT cards are similar enough in design if not color. The Platinum Edition does have a sticker to distinguish its faster clocks from the normal version.
