Samsung's Big Bang
It's that time of year where Samsung would unleash a host of products filled with interesting new features and perks. We aren't complaining of course. With 50 new AV and digital imaging models launched, we might not be able to highlight them all, but we'll do our best to feature those worthy of a mention. Let's start with their flat-panels.
Meet Samsung's New LED Flat Panels
Samsung has three new LED HDTV series on board, tagged as Series 6, 7 and 8. In place of CCFL backlights found on conventional LCD TVs, the new LED range will exploit LED lights to reduce their footprint further. All new Samsung LED models will carry Full-HD panels, fashioned under their signature Crystal Design and boast a tantalizingly slim figure of just 29.9mm thickness. Besides including an integrated DVB-T tuner, the new LED HDTVs also offers a "Mega" Dynamic Contrast Ratio, although no exact figures were given at this point. The Series 6 and 7 LED HDTVs will continue the 100Hz MotionPlus frame rate enhancement, while their flagship Series 8 is buffed up with the 200Hz refresh perk.
Another addition is Samsung's Medi@2.0 feature, consisting of Content Library, DLNA Wireless support, USB 2.0 Movie, and most notably, the new Internet@TV option. You may use the Internet@TV feature to access online YouTube videos upon installing its service on the TV. Online connection is made possible via its Wi-Fi dongle or LAN port. Those conscious about saving the earth should know that these TVs don't pack any mercury or lead content. Furthermore, power consumption for the new LED HDTVs has been watered down to 40% of traditional LCD TVs.
