With the mostly 95W TDP rating on the Sandy Bridge processors, we knew that these new processors were not going to be that low-powered. For that, you'll have to turn to Sandy Bridge's mobile contingent. Compared to Intel's Core i7 Extreme Edition processors, the Sandy Bridge ones are easily more energy efficient, especially if you consider the amount of performance you'll get on Sandy Bridge. However, the older Core i5 and i7 processors are not too shabby either when it comes to energy draw so if we're talking about that aspect, it's not an outright win for Sandy Bridge.
