PlayTest: August 2008

PlayTest: August 2008 - Bigger and Better

The inaugural PlayTest held on June 7th was conceived with the idea of assisting and educating subscribers and readers of HWM, PHOTOVIDEOi (PVi), GameAxis Unwired (GaXU) and www.hardwarezone.com on what best to choose with regards to purchases during the then upcoming PC Show 2008. Fast forward two months to August and with Comex 2008 looming around the corner, we once again opened our doors and invited our loyal subscribers and readers into our hallowed halls of our office once more to show them the coolest and latest gadgets, and allow them the opportunity to interact with our knowledgeable and interactive editorial team.

As the heavens would have it, our second PlayTest was once again plagued by bad weather. Fortunately, we still had a healthy turnout. Armed with brollies and windbreakers, our subscribers and members braved the foul weather and made their way eagerly to the registration counter, where upon registration, they were given goodie bags and the itineraries for the day.

Clearly, the foul weather outside failed to dampen the attendees' spirits, who braved the heavy rain and strong winds and eagerly registered themselves at our registration counter.

Like the last PlayTest, each of the respective booths representing each publication had their own highlights (more will be revealed later) and this PlayTest was no different. Highlights this time round included the gaming tournament held by GameAxis, the aptly-named GameAxis Gauntlet, www.hardwarezone.com's extensive showcase of the latest netbooks and desktop replacement laptops, and HWM's 3D panel display, not to mention the talks given by our members of our editorial team.

This happy attendee is clearly enjoying himself...... and the food.

All things aside, the most important thing we wish to get out of this event, was the chance to interact and exchange ideas and opinions with the readers who read our articles and to impart them with the latest in technology, trends and advise. We hope that our subscribers and readers have learnt and gained much from this experience, and helped them make a more informed purchasing decision at Comex 2008. Also, we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their valuable feedback as well.

And if you've missed out on this wonderful interactive event, fear not, because there will be more PlayTests to come. In the meantime, read on to see what took place on that fun-filled day. Oh and if you're wondering why all of us were wearing red, it was just a theme to represent 'speed' and getting in gear with the F1 racing phenomenon that's descending upon us shortly.
