Enter the Netbooks: Fujitsu and LG's Launch

Fujitsu: Sweet Candy

Fujitsu: Sweet Candy

Taking a different approach this time was Fujitsu's launch of two new LifeBook A series notebooks together with their first foray into the netbook market with the Fujitsu M1010. While the A series notebooks look like a sweet sweet deal, it's a shame they won't be available for the upcoming Sitex show. The Fujitsu M1010 however, will make its way down to Sitex and will be available for purchase.

While most netbooks have been aimed solely at the consumer market, Fujitsu will be taking a different approach for their netbook (and hence the steeper price of S$888). Catered more as a second, light and portable computer for business users, the M1010 will probably be more suited for such tasks given its smaller 8.9-inch screen and features such as an ExpressCard slot. Of course, this shouldn't deter normal consumers from getting the netbook either, as Fujitsu's netbook will come with snap-on covers for that extra touch of customization.

The 8.9-inch Fujitsu M1010 netbook features the same Intel Atom based hardware found on most netbooks and comes with a 4-cell battery, 1GB RAM and a 60GB 4200 RPM HDD. It will also retail at S$888 at Sitex 2008.

The snap on covers (Fujitsu calls them Color Lids) are what makes the M1010 different from other netbooks out there, allowing the user to customise their netbooks to their mood and preference.

The other two A series notebooks as mentioned earlier, won't make it in time for Sitex, but will be available come Q1 2009. If you're still keen here's a few shots of both 15.4-inch notebooks, the lower end LifeBook A1110 and the higher end LifeBook A6220.

The Fujitsu LifeBook A6220 comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8600/8400 processor 15.4-inch WXGA screen, Blu-ray (or normal DVD), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 and 250GB HDD. Will only be available in Q1 2009 so don't hold your breath!

The cheaper Fujitsu LifeBook A1110 is a 15.4-inch beauty that's really catered for the low-end budget market and it shows with its Intel dual core T3400 processor and 160/250GB HDD. Like the A6220, it will only be available come Q1 2009.

These Color Lids are snap on covers for Fujitsu's LifeBook A series.
