MSI's DDR3 Motherboard Showcase

MSI's DDR3 Motherboard Showcase

Back to MSI's booth today, we caught hold of one of the few DDR3-enabled boards in action at the show floor.

This demo uses MSI's new P35 Platinum D3 motherboard and their Radeon X1950 PRO 512MB graphics card.

Qimonda is supplying DDDR3 memory for this showcase. The ones running are rated at DDR3-1060 - almost equivalent to memory running at 1325MHz DDR rate!

Here's a look at the MSI P35 Platinum D3 motherboard used in the above rig. It's using Intel's new mainstream performance class discrete graphics system chipset - the Intel P35 chipset. Note the new memory bank color scheme for MSI's DD3 equipped motherboards. The board features all solid capacitors for better durability, the dual x8 PCI express configuration, an updated ICH9R Southbridge, 1333MHz FSB and 45nm processor support. FireWire, Gigabit and full surround is standard-fare for this call of boards.

The Integrated graphics equivalent is the MSI G33 Platinum D3 motherboard that uses the Intel G33 chipset. The graphics core is an updated version of the GMA950 engine but boasts a couple of video handling and enhancement functionality as part of its Enhanced Clear Video Technology feature. The DX10 IGP is the G35 chipset and it's expected to debut somewhere in the third quarter.
