How to Add Multiple Google Calendars to Windows 8 Calendar App

Managing Multi-Calendars on Windows 8

If you’re using Windows 8, you may come across a strange issue whereby after adding your Google account to the Calendar app, only one calendar is being synced (or in our experience, none at all). For those who rely on multiple calendars (shared or otherwise), this is a crippling limitation. Thankfully, there’s a way to get around it. Here's how.

Step 1 - Download Chrome and install the User-Agent Switcher extension from the Chrome Web Store.

Step 2 - Using the user agent switcher, choose an iOS device (iPhone or iPad). Alternatively, you can use Chrome's built-in user agent override function. This is found in the Tools > Developer Tools > Settings > Overrides tab.

If you're using a Mac, the Safari browser has a built-in user agent 'spoofer' in the Develop > User Agent menu. To enable this hidden Develop menu, open Safari's Preferences menu, and in the Advanced tab, check the option 'Show Develop menu in menu bar'.

Step 3 - Next, disable JavaScript. In Chrome, you can find it under Advanced Settings > Privacy > Content settings. For Safari on the Mac, the option is under Preferences > Security.

Step 4 - Now, go to the Google Sync mobile site and sign in with your Google account.

Step 5 - All devices that are associated with Google Sync are shown here. Select the correct Windows 8 device - it should have the name 'WindowsMail'. Unfortunately, because Google doesn't allow you to rename them, you may see multiple devices with the same name.

Step 6 - After selecting the desired 'WindowsMail' device, you should come to a page that allows you to select which calendars to sync to your device. But as you can see below, there's no way to do so.

Step 7 - And here comes the trick. Navigate to the URL, and you'll see that it ends with 'MultiCalendars=false'. Simply change 'false' to 'true', and hit Enter (or Return) to reload the page.

Step 8 - Multi-calendar support should now be enabled, and you should be able to see all your calendars. Proceed to add them, and remember to hit 'Save' when you're done. You can re-enable JavaScript after that.

Now, if you've an iOS or Windows Phone device, there's no need to spoof the user agent string of your browser (though you still need to disable JavaScript). In that case, simply start from Step 4 using your mobile device.
