Sony has just announced the new PMW-300 XDCAM camcorder for professionals at BroadcastAsia 2013. An evolution of the PMW-EX3, the PMW-300 XDCAM is able to record Full-HD at 50Mbps in MPEG HD422. It comes with a 1/2" Exmor Full-HD 3CMOS sensor with improved signal processing.
Wearable, point of view cameras have been brought back into the fore of the public consciousness thanks to devices such as the GoPro. Panasonic has been working on the HX-A100 which works in similar ways and comes with wireless capabilities to boot.

Fujifilm and Panasonic have announced the joint development of a brand new organic CMOS image sensor with expanded dynamic range and increased sensitivity. The companies will promote the application of this new sensor to a range of products including security cameras, mobile devices and digital cameras.
Leica has officially announced the X Vario, a compact camera with a 16.1MP APS-C sensor and 18-46mm (28-70mm in 35mm equivalent) f/3.5-6.4 lens. The camera comes with a 920k dot 3" LCD, and an optional electronic viewfinder is available. Pricing is, as always with Leica, an eye-watering US$2850.

Canon is announcing a new 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens for the EOS M system, which brings the total number of native lenses to three. There will also be a firmware upgrade for the EOS M camera which promises to improve the auto-focus system, with an improved AF speed of up to 2.3x.
