Canon's new ultra-short throw projectors let you write on the screen

Update:- First published on 3rd April, we've updated pricing and availability information today, 4th June.

Canon has just launched two new ultra-short throw DLP projectors, the LV-WX300USTi and LV-WX300UST. These projectors can project large images on an 80" screen from a close distance of 28.2cm. They feature improvements like an increased brightness of 3,000 lumens, sharp WXGA resolution and interactive features on the LV-WX300USTi (let's call it the 300USTi for short).

The 300USTi has a built-in camera, which opens up interactive functions, like the ability to use up to four interactive pens, draw diagrams and write characters on the projected screen. An optional Finger-Touch module lets users draw on the projector screen directly with their fingers, and up to four fingers can be tracked at one time.

Because short-throw projectors can project large images at very short distances, they can be mounted directly above the projection screen. This means the presenter can stand below or in front of the projector, and not be caught in the light beam. This eliminates glare in the presenter's eyes, as well as reduces shadows cast by the presenter. Ultra-short throw projectors are ideal for limited spaces, and the 300USTi and 300UST can both be fixed onto a table or pedestal close to the screen.

These projectors also include rear projection capabilities, allowing them to be hidden from sight.

The 300UST will be available at Canon Singapore authorised dealers from 3rd April at S$1,899, while the 300USTi will be available June 1st, with pricing TBC from June 15th with a retail price of S$2,399.
