It's no secret that smartphones powered by dual-core processors are one of the biggest highlights in 2011. Just a few weeks ago, we had a quick talk with HTC to understand some of the unique features of the Taiwanese company's latest Android flagship device.

While the Sensation has been on sale since PC Show 2011, the Galaxy S II took a while more to reach our shores. As of now, the Galaxy S II is now on sale, and we are hearing reports of units selling fast at the various telcos and authorized resellers. As we go into full gear to conduct our usual benchmarks and evaluation on these two Android 2.3 devices, here's a quick pictorial comparison.

The biggest difference between the two dual-core Android smartphones is the screen technology. The Galaxy S II utilizes Samsung's very own Super AMOLED Plus display, while HTC opts for the S-LCD display on the Sensation.

A closer look at the two displays, showing how the Galaxy S II unit looks sharper with richer colors. However, we noticed that the Sensation had a better balance between the colors, while the Galaxy S II takes on a cooler hue.

The Sensation adopts more curves along its unibody chassis, while the Galaxy S II takes the opposite route with more mundane look.

Both devices sport an 8-megapixel camera, with the Galaxy S II armed with a single LED flash while HTC adds a second LED flash for the Sensation.

Like its earlier Galaxy S, the Galaxy S II users a home button flanked by a touch-sensitive touch and menu button, while the Sensation uses an additional search shortcut.

Both devices will come with seven home screen pages, but HTC's Sense 3.0 lets you rotate through the pages while the Galaxy S II has the home button returning you to the very first page on the extreme left.

Four perpetual shortcuts are left on the Galaxy S II, whilst the Sensation differentiates your apps according to All, Frequent and Downloaded.

For those who are more stringent on the hardware delivery, here's a comparison of the main hardware highlights between the Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation.
