To Infinity And Beyond
Looking Forward
What this all means is that personalizing computers has become more important for the everyday user, whether as a means of standing out or just to suit his or her personal preferences. No longer content with just changing the screens and colors of their desktop, or for that matter, the internal components of their computers, users can now readily change the appearance of their laptops and desktops to suit their tastes and surroundings; it remains to be seen if this growing demand can be met by players in the market and if they continue to capitalize on future personalization trends.
Taking the whole customization phenomenon further, it might not be strange to see every aspect of a computer customized for personal use. For example, the humble keyboard and mouse, where one day they may actually be customized to your hand size, grip (for mice) or even the button size of your keyboard. Take this to an even more extreme view, where peripherals such as headsets may be molded to a custom head size or laptops are built according to a person's size and bodyweight for maximum usability and personalization (including biometric security and identity, which are already in place for some devices).
Of course, those ideas may sound far-fetched now, but when companies start hunting for the consumer dollar, these ideas may start taking form and factor and may just become a reality. We will be eagerly watching to see what will happen, but if our predictions hold true, we are looking to an interesting and exciting future in the trend of personalized computing.
