Sony launches complete range of Xperia Z3 smartphones and tablets in Singapore

Following the unveiling of Sony's new range of Xperia Z3 products at IFA 2014, the entire portfolio was officially unveiled in Singapore today.

Xperia Z3

Sony's new flagship smartphone is 11g lighter than its predecessor, the Z2, weighing just 152g. It is also slightly shorter and thinner, measuring a mere 7.3mm thick. Like the Z2, the Z3 uses a 5.2-inch Full HD Triluminos display, but now boasts some of the thinnest bezels around, measuring just 2mm from the display to the edge of the device. The Z3 also features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with a higher clock speed of 2.5GHz, 3GB RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat, and Sony's best ever dust and water resistant build, with the Z3 rated at IP 65/68, compared to IP 55/58 for the Z2.

The Z3's bezels are just 2mm wide!

The camera on the Z3 remains the same 20.7-megapixel shooter with Zeiss optics, but Sony has managed to bump its maximum ISO up to an unprecedented 12800, for better low-light photography.

The Z3 will come in Sony's usual black and white colors, and for the first time on the Xperia Z range, copper and silver green colors will also be available.

The Z3 will be available in white, black, copper and silver green.

The phone will retail for S$998, with pre-orders starting next week. The phone will officially launch on 4th October.

Xperia Z3 Compact

Along with the 5.2-inch Z3, Sony will be launching the 4.6-inch Z3 Compact for those who prefer smaller phones. While slightly thicker, measuring 8.6mm, the Z3 compact is lighter at just 129g, and also boasts IP 65/68 dust and water resistance. The phone is fitted with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution HD display, and is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz processor found in the Z3.

The Z3 compact is ideal for those who prefer smaller phones.

The Z3 Compact will be available in white, black, orange and green for S$798. Like the Z3, pre-orders will commence next week, with the phone officially launching on 4th October.

Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

The Z3 Tablet Compact is Sony's first 8-inch Xperia Z tablet. The sleek tablet measures just 6.4mm thick and weighs a mere 270g, making it the slimmest and lightest tablet currently available on the market (and yes, it beats the Samsung Tab S 8.4). Like the Z3 and Z3 compact smartphones, the Z3 Tablet Compact is IP 65/68 rated, making it waterproof and dust-tight.

The tablet boasts an 8-inch Full HD Triluminos display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz processor.

The Z3 Tablet Compact boasts an 8-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display.

The Z3 Tablet Compact will launch later this year in both LTE and Wi-Fi variants. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.

Sony Wearables

SmartBand Talk

Along with the new range of smartphones and tablets, Sony launched two new wearables today. The SmartBand Talk is a 1.4-inch curved e-paper display that syncs with Sony's Lifelog app, tracking your physical activity as well as where you went, what music you listened to and what pictures you took. The device has a built-in microphone and speaker, which lets you make and receive calls with it, as well as issue voice commands to your smartphone through it. As with most Sony Mobile products, the SmartBand Talk is IP68 rated.

The SmartBand Talk will retail for S$228, and will be introduced at the end of October in black, with more colors available later in the year.

While the SmartBand Talk will be launching in black only, brighter colors will be available later in the year.

SmartWatch 3

The SmartWatch 3 is Sony's latest smart watch and features a 1.6-inch 320 x 320 pixel resolution display. It includes a built-in accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, and GPS sensor and also works in harmony with Sony's Lifelog app. Like the SmartBand Talk, the SmartWatch 3 is IP68 rated against dust and water.

The SmartWatch 3 is fitted with a black, silicon strap, but pink and white straps will also be available.

The SmartWatch 3 will be available at the end of October in black and lime green, for S$298.
