W710i – A Sporty WALKMAN Phone

The W710i is the first clamshell phone in the WALKMAN series. Almost identical to the Z710i, the W710i is designed for the sporty and active with features that athletes will probably appreciate. Namely, it has a motion sensor with fitness applications that measure your running speed, distance and time. It even counts the steps when walking from place to place. The sporty W710i comes in performance graphite and hatha violet colors and has full music playback features expected of a WALKMAN phone, plus a new TrackID feature.

The W710i comes in two colors. Shown here is the hatha violet edition. It also has a large external LCD screen like the Z710i.

The W710i comes with the active clip, IAC-60, designed specifically for jogging and other vigorous activities.

TrackID is a unique feature powered by Gracenote Mobile MusicID. For those who don't have a great knowledge of song trivia or new release information, TrackID allows you to check up on song details simply by recording a few seconds of the 'mysterious' song using either the microphone or the built-in FM radio, and with one click you can send the clip to Gracenote, which will try to identify the track and relay the information back to the phone. Some of these new phones also come configured for operator over the air (OTA) music download services where you can purchase songs and store them onto the memory card, M2 or Memory Stick Pro Duo.
