Sitex 2015 highlights

It's near the end of the year, which means Sitex is here once again. Now in its 27th edition, Sitex 2015 will be held from 26 to 29 November at Halls 5 and 6 of the Singapore Expo Convention & Exhibition Center. Doors will open from 11am in the morning all the way to 9pm daily. As always, admission is free.

With over 300 brands expected to showcase their latest wares, Sitex is the place to be at this time of the year if you want to fulfill your home entertainment, lifestyle electronics, office equipment, and travel technology shopping needs.

That said, Sitex is not just a place to suss out the best tech deals. New this time round are four thematic zones that allow visitors to discover latest products and technology, and experience the benefits they bring to their daily lives; at home, at work, and at play.

For example, you can climb the rock wall and try out IT wearables at the Adventure IT Arena; check out underwater photography equipment at the dive tank; play Microsoft's award-winning console games at the Gaming Ground; experience technology that enhances your home living experience at the Smart Homes area; and many more. Without further ado, here are the deals that caught our attention.

 

Acer

The Acer Iconia Tab 8W is a portable 8-inch tablet with an Intel Atom quad-core 1.33GHz processor running on full Windows 10 Home. The tablet also comes with Microsoft Office Mobile pre-loaded. Get one at Sitex for just $249 (usual price: $499) and you'll also get a free Folio case.

The Acer Aspire V13 features the latest Intel Core i5-6200U processor (2.3GHz, 3MB cache), 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB HDD. It comes with a 13.3-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels display and weighs around 1.6kg, making it fairly portable. It is available in either black or white and you can have it for $999 (U.P. $1,098). Also bundled is a three-year McAfee Internet Security subscription worth $119.95.

The Acer Aspire R13 is equipped with a 13.3-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 touch display that can be moved to allow the device to be used in a variety of different modes. The base model comes with a sixth-generation Intel Core i5-6200U (2.3GHz, 3MB cache), 8GB of RAM, and two 128GB SSDs in RAID 0. The display is also covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to guard against scratches. You can have it for $1,598 (U.P. $ 1,798), together with a bundled stylus pen and a three-year McAfee Internet Security subscription.

The Acer One 10 is a 10.1-inch 2-in-1 hybrid with a 1,280 x 800 pixels display. It is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F processor and comes with 2GB of RAM and a 32GB eMMC flash + 500GB HDD hybrid drive. The keyboard is also detachable so you can use it as a standalone tablet as well. It will cost you just $449 (U.P. $649) and comes with three years of McAfee Internet Security. You're also entitled to a free Swensen's ice cream cake!

The Acer Aspire V Nitro features a 15.6-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels display powered by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics card. It also packs the latest Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor (2.6GHz, 6MB cache), 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a quad-speaker setup. It is selling for $1,798 (U.P. $1,998) and comes with a free Razer gaming mouse and a three-year McAfee Internet Security subscription.

The Acer Predator G9-591 is a 15.6-inch (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) gaming laptop with a matte IPS display. It features a sixth-generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor (2.6GHz, 6MB cache), 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and two 256GB SSDs configured in RAID 0. It also has a subwoofer built in and a dedicated number pad on its keyboard. It is selling for $3,498 (U.P. $3,698) and comes with a free upgrade to a three-year carry-in warranty.

This is the Predator X34, a 34-inch, 3,440 x 1,440-pixel curved monitor with support for NVIDIA G-Sync tech. Going for $1,499 at the show, down from the usual $1,699. Acer is throwing in USB, DisplayPort, and HDMI cables.

 

Aftershock

Homegrown gaming notebook specialists Aftershock has just refreshed its entire lineup with Intel's new sixth generation Skylake processors and there's a wide range of notebooks to choose from at SITEX 2015. From 17-inch behemoths to 14-inch slim and light systems. Also included here is the excellent S-15 notebook, which we think it's one of the best value gaming notebooks in the market today.

The Aftershock Titan packs a desktop Intel Core i7-6700K processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 desktop GPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 120GB SSD and 1TB HDD. It is a beast of a machine and is going at SITEX 2015 for $4389 (U.P $4840) and comes with free Aftershock M5 gaming mouse, free Trend Micro anti-virus, and an NVIDIA gaming bundle.

For something more portable, there's the Aftershock S-15. It is powered by the ltest Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor and can be spec'ed with either a GeForce GTX 980M or 970M GPU. It also comes with 8GB of RAM, 120GB SSD and 1TB HDD. Prices begin from $2158 (U.P $2606).

The Aftershock S-14 is the company's newest slim and light gaming machine. It has a 14-inch display and weighs just 2kg. Even so, it is powered by an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, GeForce GTX 970M GPU, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD and 1TB HDD. It is priced at $2099 (U.P. $2509).

 

Alienware

The Alienware 13 is a compact 13-inch gaming notebook featuring a sixth-generation Intel Core i7-6500U (2.5GHz, 4MB cache), 8GB of memory, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics card. It relies on a speedy 256GB PCIe-based SSD for storage. You can get it at $2,199 together with a free Alienware-branded jacket.

The Alienware Alpha is a desktop in the shape of a console. It is powered by an Intel Core i7-4765T processor (2.0GHz, 8MB cache), 8GB of DDR3 memory, and an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card. It has a fairly large 2TB HDD for storage. You can have it for $1,699, together with a free 12-month subscription to McAfee Live Safe.
