Contrary to most happenings that you read about on 1st April, Samsung is quite seriously committed to roll out the company’s new poster products, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, from 10th April. In fact, from yesterday’s Samsung Galaxy S6 World Tour 2015 that was held at Sentosa for the Southeast Asian leg of the tour, we’ve learned that both the Galaxy S6 devices will be available throughout this region by the end of the month!

For those of us residing in Singapore, just days ago on 31st March, all three telcos have launched their registration of interest page to ensure you get to upgrade your handset soonest to either the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge. Unfortunately, we understand that many of you are waiting for the telco price plans to be out before making an informed decision on your plan of upgrade. You can be sure HardwareZone will be the first to help you compile this information once it’s made known.

Availability and key details

Here's a close look at the Galaxy S6 in Blue Topaz. Unfortunately, it won't be available at launch on April 10, but Samsung did confirm it would retail later this quarter.

Meanwhile, what we can confirm is that the new Galaxy S6 devices will be available in Singapore from 11th April (ROI customers can collect it from the 10th April), its retail price, color options and accessories.

To recap, the Samsung Galaxy S6 4G+ will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options at recommended retail prices of S$998, S$1,148 and S$1,288 respectively. Color options available are White Pearl, Black Sapphire and Gold Platinum. Blue Topaz will be available at a later date.

The curvier Samsung Galaxy S6 edge 4G+ will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options at recommended retail prices of S$1,168, S$1,298 and S$1,448 respectively. Color options available are White Pearl, Black Sapphire and Gold Platinum. Green Emerald will be available at a later date.

Also, we've covered the Galaxy S6 devices extensively in our hands-on article while we were at MWC 2015, so do check it out for more photos and details of the devices, including its new software features.

Accessories Galore!

As with any premium tier product, Samsung will ensure you’ve a wide choice of accessory options and we were fortunate to check out the offering that will be available with the Galaxy S6 phones. Perhaps one of these might be an ideal accompaniment to your new phone.

Samsung Galaxy S6

The Samsung Galaxy S6 has made quite a statement to its design attributes, most notably its color options. Should you wish to flaunt your phone to its fullest, Samsung has thoughtfully designed these Clear Cover cases just to protect the rear of the Galaxy S6, but yet enjoy the phone’s true color. Each Clear Cover has a suggested retail price of S$48.

Here’s another variant without the rear see-through capability, but as its name suggests, the rear Protective Cover can withstand more abuse.

For slightly better overall protection, this is the Clear View Cover with a front flip cover that’s in the same color as the phone color you’ve chosen. This is the most expensive cover at S$88.

Lastly, this is the S View Cover that presents crucial information that can be glanced from the window while the cover is closed. This is priced at S$68.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Like the Galaxy S6, the S6 Edge has its own rear Clear Cover to fit its slightly different physical form and will cost the same at S$48. Notice that there’s an Emerald Green edition to go along with its matching variant of the phone – when it debuts later this quarter of course.

Likewise, Protective Covers are also available for the rear of the Galaxy S6 Edge should you need more protection. While Samsung’s new phones are protected with the latest Gorilla Glass 4 on both sides, if you really want to preserve its appearance and have a carefree handling experience, having a cover gives you a better peace of mind.

This is the Clear View Cover option for the Galaxy S6 Edge. Again, you’ll notice an Emerald Green version replaces the Topaz Blue variant that’s exclusive to the Galaxy S6. Each Clear View Cover will set you back S$88.

The Flip Wallet seems to be unique to the Galaxy S6 Edge and while it pretty much hides the phone’s nice design completely, it offers decent all-round coverage for the entire phone and costs only S$48.

Brand collaborated accessories

This is a new series of Animal Edition battery packs that are sold under the Samsung brand name but with illustrations of endangered animals from an external designer. Featuring four species of endangered animals, these are part of the company's "Charge the Life" campaign to raise awareness of their state. The Animal Edition battery packs come in two capacities - 8,400mAh and 11,300mAh - and have a clear power level display and the ability to charge two devices simultaneously. They cost S$78 and S$98 respectively.
