Canon and Pentax Booths

Canon's Booth

It seems that almost everyone is jumping onto the colour bandwagon. Canon is certainly no exception.

Canon’s PowerShot SD1100 IS comes in five distinctive colours - Golden Tone, Bohemian Brown, Pink Melody, Rhythm & Blue and Swing Silver. These seem to be targeted at the highly-conscious and fashionable crowd who want the best out of their equipment.

Of course, we can't possibly leave out the EOS 450D, known as the Rebel XSi here in US. Hardware Magazine and PHOTOVIDEOi were the first magazines in Singapore to bring you the sneak peek of this long awaited replacement for the 400D.12.2 effective megapixels, Live View, a 3-inch monitor and a 3.5 fps continuous shooting speed (compared to the 3 fps of the 400D's) rounds up this lovely number.

The EF 800mm f/5.6 IS USM lens is one of the world's longest lenses. It features a new optical design, which consists of two fluorite, one UD-glass and one Super UD-glass element. Its magnesium alloy construction ensures the weight is kept manageable at 9.9lbs (approximately 4.5kg), light enough for you to carry around for sports or birding photography.

This was another lens that wowed the world on its debut. The new Canon EF 200m f/2L IS USM lens is the perfect weapon when it comes to indoor sports, photojournalism and wedding portraitures. Weighing in at approximately 2.5kg, this lens is suitable for hand-held shots or for use on a monopod, with the IS capability giving you up to four stops of correction to compensate for camera movement.

Pentax's Booth

Pentax had some fabulous products on show, although top on their list were their DSLRs, the K20D and K200D.

The K20D comes with a 14.6mp CMOS sensor, and is also equipped with most of the features you would find on other DSLRs of the same class.

The K200D comes with a smaller 10.2mp CCD sensor and a slightly slower continuous shooting speed (2.8fps as compared to the K20D’s 3fps). The K200D also features a unique Sensitivity-Priority (Sv), which will select the optimal shutter speed and aperture to capture the best picture. A scene mode gives you more leeway in terms of shooting perfect photos everytime.
