The Sony Xperia X Compact launched recently and it will soon be available in retail - 15th October. We were able to get our hands on the device for a quick photo op with it. Off the bat, the compact phone still rocks a 4.6-inch HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC with 3GB of RAM.
The new Loop design language that Sony used for this phone makes it much easier to handle and grip, just like the Xperia XZ brother.
Side by side: the bigger and more powerful Xperia XZ on the left, and the more modest Xperia X Compact on the right.
See ya, micro-USB ports! Both the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact have been future-proofed with the use of the new USB Type-C interface. Oh, and did we mention that it also supports Quick Charging?
Here's the side profile of the phone with power (integrated with fingerprint sensor), volume rocker and shutter buttons.
Yes, the headphone jack is still present unlike the new Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices.
Despite its modest hardware specifications, both the Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ are rocking the same 23MP main camera sensor and its 5-axis image stabilization camera technology.
Unlike the Xperia XZ's 13MP front-facing camera, the small Xperia X Compact only sports a 5MP camera module. So it's probably not as adept as the bigger brother for selfies.
The Xperia X Compact uses a hybrid slot that can only house a single nano-SIM card and microSD card (up to 256GB in capacity).
