In pictures: a sneak peek at the new Apple Park Visitor Center
It’s gorgeous.
The new Apple Park Visitor Center is outside and opposite of Apple’s campus, and will feature a cafe as well as an Apple Store. It’s still under development, and is planned to be opened to the public sometime later this year.
The Visitor Center isn’t at the same scale as the new Steve Jobs Theatre, but the architecture is still stunning.
A preview of the cafe, where members of the public can grab a quick drink. If I’m not mistaken, those are Hiroshima chairs by renowned designer Naoto Fukasawa, who was commissioned to design custom furniture for Apple Park.
There’s a foyer on the second level, where you can catch a glimpse of the new Apple Park campus.
The Visitor Center also houses an Apple Store, where you can get your hands on Apple’s latest products. The store offered some exclusive merchandise yesterday after the iPhone event, like Apple Park T-shirts and tote bags.
I’m not sure if it’ll do the same when it opens to the public, but seeing as the store at the 1 Infinite Loop campus offers unique swag, it’s quite likely this one will do the same.
This large mirror is the back of a display screen inside that’s in front of a seating area. It’s similar in layout to the second floor of the Apple Orchard Road store.
Apple conducted an AR (augmented reality) demo here after the iPhone event. Through the screen of an iPad, we could move around a pretty realistic rendering of Apple Park that was projected onto the model.
Something that strikes you when you visit the new campus is how curves are everywhere. Here, you can spot curves in the lamp, the cutouts in the path for the trees, the corners of the stone bench, and even the shorter lamps in the background have subtly curved corners.
Even the signs had distinctly curved corners. The new Apple Park Visitor Center is located at 10700 N. Tantau Ave, Cupertino, and is planned to be open to the public sometime later this year.
