The ROG Masters APAC Qualifiers is the first e-Sports competition of its kind in the region. The winning teams from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and DOTA 2 will then square off with winners from other regions in the Grand Finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in December.
The event is also an opportunity for ASUS to showcase its range of ROG (Republic of Gamers) products, notably its gaming desktops and notebooks. Visitors at the convention hall can get to experience games like Overwatch and Tekken 7 on these hardware.
Gamers love a good queue. Participating in games at various station (the Tekken 7 area was immensely popular) around the show floor will earn gamers a stamp. Collect at least five, and they stood to take home some attractive swags.
Some of the swags included ROG gaming mouse pads, T-shirts, ROG keyboards and mouse. Sorry, gaming notebooks and desktops were not included in the list.
One of the stations required gamers to take part in a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive one-on-one duel. The winner gets the stamp. The loser, unfortunately will have to queue up behind the line in order to try again. Can you also spot the ROG GR8 II mini desktop?
What's an ROG event without some bling bling ASUS Aura Sync showcase? Of course, it has to be a watercooled setup too.
A very popular highlight was the ROG Zephyrus GX501 Max-Q gaming notebook. Should we be surprised?
The ROG GD30 gaming desktop were in full force. Here, teams could use the machines for their practice matches.
Need assistance? These wonderful ROG ladies will be more than happy to guide you through their respective stations. One of them here plays a very mean Tekken 7 game, by the way.
What's so impressive about the ROG showcase is the variety of games. We have mentioned shooters such as CS: GO and Overwatch, as well as DOTA 2 and Tekken 7 available for play at the show floor. There's even a proper racing simulator set up for Forza Motorsport 7.
