Motorola Acquires Soundbuzz and the ROKR Heritage Lives On!

Motorola has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Soundbuzz Pte. Ltd., which fits into its plan to enhance Motorola's music delivery capabilities in the Asian context. The acquisition is expected to close within the first quarter of 2008. For more than two years now, Motorola has been delivering mobile music content to consumers in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. With the acquisition of Soundbuzz, Motorola will be allowed to further expand these capabilities into countries such as India, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Mr. Ian F. Chapman-Banks, Vice President, Marketing, Asia Pacific Mobile Devices, Motorola starts off the announcement with a riveting presentation on the acquisition.

Sudhanshu Sarronwala, CEO, Soundbuzz takes centre stage and gives his take on the acquisition by Motorola.

Soundbuzz is currently headquartered in Singapore and has access to a huge range of music libraries in the Asia-Pacific region, gathered through licenses from companies such as Sony BMG, EMI, Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group and also, through more than 45 independent record labels in Asia, United States and Europe.

All these would enable Motorola to play an integral part within the digital music content delivery development component in Asia.
