LG launches the LG V30+ in Singapore, will be available in December
LG has officially launched the V30+ in Singapore. The V30+ ships with a 6-inch screen, a Hi-Fi Quad DAC, 16MP + 13MP dual rear cameras, an f/1.6 lens for the main camera, Android 7.1.2. The ‘+’ in the name refers to the larger 128GB of internal storage variant, compared to the V30 that ships with 64GB of storage (which does not sell in Singapore).
The LG V30+ looks a lot like a bigger version of the LG G6, with its thin bezels and long screen. The 6-inch screen has an 18:9 aspect ratio, with a QuadHD+ OLED display, and a 2,880 x 1,440 resolution that comes up to 538ppi.
At 151.7 x 75.4 x 7.39mm, the V30+ is one of the thinnest plus-sized phones. The Samsung Galaxy S8+, which has a 6.2-inch screen, measures 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1mm; the Google Pixel 2 XL, which has a 6-inch screen, measures 157.9 x 76.7 x 7.9mm.
It‘s also lighter than the two, the V30+ weighs 158g, while the S8+ weighs 173g and the Pixel 2 XL weighs 175g. And, as LG pointed out at the launch event, the V30+ has a headphone jack, which the other two flagship phones from Apple and Google lack.
That headphone jack is key to the V30+, as one of its differentiators is audio performance. The phone comes with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC built in, with sound tuning by B&O Play. The V30+ also supports Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) audio codec tech for high-resolution audio streaming capability.
Besides audio performance, the V30+ comes with an f/1.6 lens for the main 16MP rear camera that uses glass, not plastic — something LG is branding it as ‘Crystal Clear Lens.’ The main camera is a wide-angle, but unlike most other dual-camera smartphones, the 13MP secondary camera is a super-wide, not a telephoto zoom. Only the main camera has optical image stabilization. The V30+ comes with a new Cine Video mode with a smooth zoom slider, and color presets for video. The V30+ also comes with custom commands on Google Assistant, a new Always-on Display, Face Recognition to unlock the phone, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage with support for up to 2TB of microSD storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. The V30+ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and is rated IP68 water and dust resistant.
The LG V30+ will ship in four colors: black, silver, blue and violet. It’s priced at S$1,098, and will be available in Singapore from 2nd December 2017. If you register your interest for the V30+ from 31 October to 17 November 2017, you can receive a pair of Beoplay H3 earphones worth S$229 with a purchase of the V30+ from authorized retailers.
