LG Gets Three-Dimensional with LG Optimus 3D
With 3D technology hitting TVs and even game consoles, it is no surprise that it will eventually come to mobile devices. Apart from yesterday's HTC EVO 3D launch, LG has also unveiled its own Optimus 3D today. This is not the 3D powerhouse's first experience however; we first had a glimpse of it at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. To recap: the smartphone comes with a 4.3-inch 480 x 800 pixels touchscreen and a dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, and like its competitor, has the ability to display 3D content without users having to utilize any form of 3D glasses.
The LG Optimus 3D undoubtedly sports similarities with the HTC EVO 3D, including DLNA capabilities that allows the phone to hook up to DLNA-enabled TVs or devices as well via an HDMI output. LG has also gone the extra mile to boost its sharing capabilities with a few cool additions. This includes a YouTube 3D app, which does not only allow but also encourage users to upload 3D content on a shared platform. When uploading media content to Facebook, users will also be prompted with two options of uploading a 2D or 3D content (though 3d images can only be seen properly on 3D-enabled monitors).
Of course, its emphasis is not only in content sharing; content creation is very much part of its suite of services too. This includes a smart content conversion software embedded in the phone that allows users to convert existing or newly-captured 2D content -specifically photos and videos- into 3D, and vice versa. An upcoming free software for converting 2D in 3D games will be available for download in the fourth quarter of 2011, a move which will effectively expand LG Optimus 3D's "portfolio" of 3D games. On the side, the smartphone will already come preloaded with 10 free 3D games, including the popular Let's Golf 2, Nova and Asphalt.

The LG Optimus 3D will be available in Singapore at an SRP of S$938 from end August 2011. For now, the LG Optimus 3D is equipped with Android 2.2, but an official LG spokesperson has informed us the Gingerbread update will be coming in the 4th quarter of this year.
