In tougher times such as a recession like this, it makes sense for most companies to cut back a little on the spending to have a better chance to ride out the current storm, but it seems Intel remains firm and committed to driving product innovation and developing new markets for its channel partners. In the midst of a global financial meltdown, Intel displays its dedication by hosting it's largest annual channel customer conference in the Asia Pacific region here in Gold Coast, Australia.

The Reseller Channel to date remains Intel's largest customer and has been a key factor in their success around the region. These resellers have helped Intel move new technology transitions such as their 45nm technology products, like the Intel Core 2 Quad and Core i7 processors faster to the market. Now Intel hopes that their Channel resellers will help drive their new products faster to enterprise and business customers while not neglecting their normal customers like the DIY folks.

Mr. Steve Dallman, Intel VP of the Sales and Marketing Group and General Manager of the Worldwide Reseller Channel Organization, was confident that Intel's next batch of 32nm technology based products, which also includes their mobile refresh line (Calpella - basically Nehalem architecture for mobile), will be quickly and easily distributed by their resellers. It is in this faith that Dallman has promised that 20 Bianca and Katama notebook platform SKUs of Calpella will be available right on launch for their resellers in order to reduce the reseller's "go-to market" time.

Mr. Steve Dallman also mentioned that Small Form Factor products will be another opportunity for growth during this period of recession for their partners as research from IDC has indicated that SFF desktops are projected to grow from the current 35% desktop market share to 41% by 2011 and have launched two new SFF platforms to that tune.
