HWZ Deal Alert: 21st January 2016

Got deal, got talk! GDGT! =)

The week is almost over, but the deals keep on coming! Here are some gems we find today. #BBBMTL!

1.) PNY CS1211 240GB SSD on Amazon

If you aren’t looking for a high-end SSD, the PNY CS1211 240GB SSD that’s now going for US$60 on Amazon is a value buy. A 2.5-inch SATA III SSD, it offers a 520MB/s sequential read and 310MB/s sequential write speeds, fast enough to give your aging desktop or notebook (that’s still using a spinning HDD) a big kick in the performance department.

2.) Anker PowerCore+ 10050 power bank on Amazon

I’m into power banks, and Anker is one of my favorite power bank makers. The PowerCore+ 10500 that’s going for US$25 on Amazon right now is one of the smallest 10,000mAh power banks you can find in the market. With only a single USB output, it isn’t designed for sharing; but what’s good about this single port is it supports both 2.4A output (for charging iOS devices) and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 standard.

3.) iOS and Mac app deals galore

There are many iOS and Mac apps going on sale at the moment. Better yet, most of them are top-notch, highly regarded apps, like Clear, Deliveries, Drafts 4, Due, PCalc, Things, 1Password, Copied, and Screens VNC. MacStories has a full list with direct U.S. app store links (last I checked, the discounts also apply in the Singapore app stores) so check it out if you’re an iOS or a Mac user who loves trying out new apps like I do.

4.) Xiaomi phones and accessories sale

Here’s a public service announcement: Mi Singapore is holding a Lunar New Year sale from January 21, 10 AM (that’s today) to January 22, 10 PM for its phones and accessories.

Among all the discounted items, the 64GB Mi Note seems to be the best deal. It’s going for S$499 (down from the usual S$569) and comes with a free case and screen protector.

Editor's note and disclaimer: The deals are not an endorsement or recommendation of the product from the editorial team. Instead, the listed items present themselves as a good deal based on the novelty factor and how much of a discount it is being offered from standard retail pricing at the time of publishing. Please note that we are not responsible in any way if you're unable to secure the listed offer due to errors on our part or should the offers expire by the time you've checked them.
