Soaring to become the world's largest maker of mobile devices based on Windows Mobile operating system was certainly no easy feat and Mr. Peter Chou confessed that the initial period was so difficult that HTC nearly threw in the towel. Fortunately, strong partnerships with the likes of Microsoft, Qualcomm, T-Mobile and many others helped HTC in its early years as it quickly grew to become one of the fastest growing companies in the mobile device market today. The extent of the strong partnership was highlighted by Dr. Paul E. Jacobs who revealed that Qualcomm and HTC actually have engineers in each other's lab for the sole purpose of product development and technology interaction. On the same note, HTC was also the first company to be selected by Microsoft for its Product Creation Program (PCP). "Today, HTC is the manufacturer for the majority of the 12 million connected devices (licenses) shipped by Microsoft for its 2007 fiscal year (FY06-07)," said Mr. Pieter Knook, Senior Vice President, Mobile Communications Business of Microsoft.
