HP Taking Care of SMBs

At an event in New Delhi last month, HP unveiled an aggressive range of products targeted specifically at SMBs (Small and Medium Businesses) in the Asia Pacific region. Although products ranging from new desktop PCs to printing and imaging solutions were launched at the event, HP also talked about their commitment to help SMBs with their IT needs through the launch of HP Total Care and a revamped SMB Portal.

In this event coverage, we'll showcase the new products launched at the event.

New Business PCs

HP launched new business PCs with various form factors and price points in order to meet the requirements of SMBs. Most of these new PCs were based on Intel's latest desktop chipset and Intel's Core 2 series of processors. As with all of HP's offerings, these PCs are configurable at purchase, from the type of processors used (you can even fit a Pentium D in there if you want to) to memory size and hard disk capacity.

The HP Compaq dc5700 small form factor business PC comes with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor featuring the Intel Q963 Express chipset. The dc5700 comes integrated with a TPM 1.2 chip that further enhances security through hardware encryption. Besides being compatible with HP's ProtectTools security software suite, the dc5700 also comes with optional security locks and devices that helps IT managers safeguard physical assets against theft and tampering. The dc5700 will be priced from US$699.

The HP Compaq dc5700 also comes in the microtower form factor - allowing IT managers the flexibility to deploy the same machine in different styles.

Besides the HP Compaq dc5700 seen above, HP also offers an AMD version featuring either AMD Sempron, Athlon 64 or Athlon 64 X2 processors. The HP Compaq dc5750 will come with an ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 chipset, all built in the same configuration and form factor as the dc5700 seen above. The price tag is attractive too, with prices starting from US$550.

The new HP Compaq dc7700 business PC comes with support for Intel vPro which features INtel's Active Management and Virtualization technologies. Equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and Intel's Q965 chipset, the PC comes with the option to configure its hard drives into RAID 1 array. The dc7700 is priced from US$719 onwards.

The HP Compaq dc7700p is yet another PC with Intel vPro technology. This ultra-slim desktop can be mounted to the back of the monitor, making it extremely suitable for space constrained desktops. The dc7700p also comes with an electromagnetic lock that can only be activated remotely through network by IT managers, making it extremely difficult for users to tamper with the components inside the PC. The dc7700p will be available at US$799 onwards.

The dc7700p may look like a tiny box, but it packs a lot of processing punch since it comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor at speeds up to 2.67GHz.
