PlayTest's Talks and External Vendors

PlayTest Talk Sessions

To kick start our round of seminars, we first had a series of talks under the umbrella topic of total mobile experience with seamless connectivity, and ended it with a talk on mobile lifestyle by HTC. This was followed by a quick round of feedback form filling.

For starters, the assigned speakers from our team, Tein Hee, along with Sutlej Soin (not pictured here) covered topics regarding Google Sync, Internet Tethering and Creating Wi-Fi Hotspots with demonstrations.

Tein Hee is seen here showing the yet-to-be launched HTC HD2, a 4.3 inch smartphone running on the Windows OS.

Next, we covered the widespread availability of digital entertainment for the typical on-the-go multimedia user by highlighting the various supported devices, online music stores and mobile application stores by Blackberry, Apple and Android.

Not neglecting those who were interested in getting a netbook or notebook, Aloysius gave a short but concise presentation on what to look out for when purchasing one, depending on what influences your purchase decision the most: form factor, usage needs or even, budget.

Displayed alongside Aloysius' talk for show and tell were some netbooks and Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) class notebooks. As both class of notebooks run on different platforms - the former on an Intel Atom processor and latter on an Intel Core 2 Duo low voltage processor - each has its own unique merits and demerits and it is important that you base your final buying decisions on your usage needs.

Lastly, to end the round of talks, Melvin Chua, Country Sales Manager of HTC Singapore spoke about the upcoming HTC HD2, and its intuitive HTC Sense UI.

The crowd listening intently to the talks, as well as anticipating the next segment of Playtest, - drum rolls -, the lucky draw!

External Vendors

For the second time in PlayTest's history, we invited external vendors to showcase their wares and share useful information that fit our event theme. The external vendors were Samsung, Singtel and HTC.

Samsung had a booth with its range of mobile notebooks on display, along with product brochures, and participants were able to try them out.

Singtel displayed an array of their existing phone plans, including an attractive one with the popular iPhone 3GS.

HTC's booth was done in similar fashion, and much was abuzz with their upcoming HTC HD2 - as indicated by the huge banner and growing crowd.
