The distinctive black finish resembles the fine gradations seen in black ink paintings, and the bezel is made of Cobarion, a Japan-developed alloy that is twice as hard as stainless steel and has a shine equal to platinum.

Nikon’s newest lens has a long name to go with its long zoom. The 180-400mm is a monster super-telephoto for sports and wildlife with a constant aperture of f/4 to isolate a subject. The lens is the first to include a 1.4x teleconventor, which transforms it to a 252-560mm lens. While it’s billed as an FX lens, the 180-400mm can also be mounted on a DX camera, with an equivalent focal length of 270-600mm.
