Gear this week: the Peak Design Backpack in black, a Thunderbolt 3 dock, and more

Peak Design Everyday Backpack Huckberry Exclusive

The highly acclaimed Peak Design Everyday Backpack did everything right — except come in black. This Huckberry exclusive fixes that with a special monochromatic design that’s more stealth than ever. This edition loses the attention-seeking blue and red highlights from the other colorways but keeps it classy with leather accents.

Sphero R2-Q5

R2-D2 also did everything but come in black, and this latest toy from Sphero fixes that ... sort of. It’s actually an Empire droid named R2-Q5, and works just like Sphero’s R2-D2. That means you can move it around with a smartphone app, and even watch Star Wars with the toy. Like the other Sphero toy droids, the R2-Q5 will react to certain scenes in the movies, and even interact with those droids if you have them.

Sonos One

Sonos’ new One speaker is its first to come with Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa, blending great sound with AI smarts. A six-microphone array with noise cancellation can hear you from anywhere in the room, above the music. The Sonos One is built with a pair of Class-D amps and custom drivers for superior acoustics, and you can pair another Sonos One for stereo sound, or a Sub for bass. Alexa’s voice control works with a variety of music services, but notably not Spotify at launch — that’s supposed to come later this year.

OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock

Put your notebook’s super high bandwidth Thunderbolt 3 port to good use with OWC’s new Thunderbolt 3 Dock, which features no less than 13 ports. On the front, users will find an SD card reader, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, and a USB Type-A port supporting USB 3.1 Gen 1. Round the back, there are four more USB Type-A ports supporting USB 3.1 Gen 1, an S/PDIF port, a FireWire 800 port, a Gigabit Ethernet jack, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and finally, a mini-DisplayPort. It has just about all the ports that one would need, though some users will be miffed at the omission of an HDMI port.

Logitech MX Master 2S

Logitech’s MX Master is widely regarded as one of the best mice you can buy, and the MX Master 2S ups that game with new features and colorways. The sensor has been updated from 1,000dpi to 4,000, and battery life almost doubled from 40 days to 70. The new Logitech Flow lets the mouse switch between two computers by simply moving the mouse cursor from one to the other.
